How Litha “Dollarz” Mama is Redefining South Africa’s Creative Renaissance
Story By MONDAYS MAG I Featuring Litha Mama/Special Feature (2nd)
The Inquisitive Roots of a Pretoria Visionary

Litha Mama, better known to the culture as Dollarz or Mr Flexx was never destined to blend into the background. Born and raised in Pretoria, his early years were anchored by a family that recognized his unique spark and refused to dim his light. "My parents always knew that I was different," Litha recalls. "Teachers would say that I would question things other students ignored, labeling me as inquisitive." That unapologetic curiosity fuelled an early love for fashion, where he would dress to the nines just to visit the local shops. Today, that childhood spark defines him. "To me, a multifaceted creative is a person who has no limits to their ideas," he explains, refusing to restrict his avenues of self-expression across audio, visual, and performance art. The Blueprint of Authenticity.
Finding Freedom on the Streets of Braamfontein

When Litha relocated to Johannesburg, he anticipated a rigid, work-obsessed metropolis. Instead, the vibrant streets of Braamfontein offered a sartorial awakening. "Walking around Braamfontein, I'd see people my age dressing in ways I had never seen before," he says. Taking a leap of faith, he stepped onto campus clad in an unapologetic emo-alternative ensemble, heavy on eyeliner and striking jewellery. He braced for judgment, thinking people might assume he was part of a cult. "Yet the reactions I got were completely different. So many people complimented me," he notes with a smile. "From that day onwards, I realised individualism is appreciated by people who understand the art of dressing up."
Merging the Lens: Where Film Production Meets High Fashion
Armed with a formal background in TV and Entertainment Production, Litha doesn’t just wear clothes; he understands the narrative. "Film production and modelling complement one another because storytelling exists in both," he explains. His behind-the-scenes expertise in camera angles, lighting, and framing gives him an unparalleled edge. "I definitely feel my experience behind the scenes gives me an advantage in front of the camera," he says confidently. Yet, he is quick to shatter the illusions of the industry. "It's not all glitz and glamour," he warns. "The modelling industry is very strict... it can affect you if you're not mentally prepared for criticism."
A Digital Portfolio That Demanded Attention
For Litha, modelling evolved from a simple desire to be seen into a profound medium. "I aim for versatility, and that's how I project my image," he shares. By intuitively channelling the energy of each garment, he built an online portfolio so compelling that it caught the eye of an agency's executive assistant, securing him a coveted professional contract. Drawing inspiration from the niche, unapologetic storytelling of filmmaker Quentin Tarantino and the meteoric rise of supermodel Anok Yai, Litha masters the art of staying loyal to his authentic image. The Vanguard of Tomorrow: Vogue, Forbes, and Beyond

The most rewarding currency for Dollarz isn't just industry recognition. "The most rewarding thing is when strangers tell me that I've motivated them to be confident in their bodies," he reveals. Preparing to dominate screens and stages including the highly anticipated 4th Stylist vs Models photoshoot on June 27, 2026 his sights are set on the highest echelons: global Vogue features and the Forbes list. His parting advice to South African youth is a masterclass in self-belief: "Pursue the career that resonates with you and don't change your vision just because it seems unrealistic to the masses. The only person coming to save you is the version of yourself that's tired of your current situation."
