South African singer-songwriter Angel M brings depth and vulnerability to the forefront with her latest single, “Lies.”  Far from the glittering façades of curated perfection in the music industry, Angel M offers raw emotion and soulful expression that invites listeners into her world.

Written during a period of hurt and reflection, the song channels disappointment into empowerment, with Angel M calling it  “an expression of disappointment, but also of empowerment—of remembering to put myself first.”  This track is an anthem of self-love and emotional release.

Before the lyrics were written, the musical foundation took form through the hands of her brother, MVSK, whose production talents allowed Angel M’s story to take shape sonically. Their long-standing creative bond infused the track with an authenticity that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable. Through “Lies,” Angel M hopes to create a space for healing—whether through tears or laughter—affirming that pain is temporary and transformation is always possible.

Her journey to this release has been shaped by a range of influences, from the powerful vocals of Brandy and Jazmine Sullivan to the soul-infused styles of Afrotraction, Zoe Modiga, Ella Mai, and Ayanda Jiya. Angel M draws from genres like Neo-Soul, R&B, and African-rooted sounds, using storytelling as a core element of her musical identity. Love—in its many forms—remains her muse, and  “Lies” explores its darker nuances while adding texture to her evolving artistry.

Already known for captivating performances at venues such as Ballito Lifestyle Centre, uShaka Marine World, and Rockafellas in Pietermaritzburg, Angel M is building momentum. A full project and new collaborations are already underway, slated for release next year. With a BCom degree under her belt, Angel M navigates the business side of music with sharp insight and determination. She champions fair treatment for artists and emphasizes the importance of knowing how to move through the industry’s challenges with both talent and strategy.
