KLA IN MY WAY

A Journey of Growth, Boundaries, and Bold Expression

27 JUNE 2025  Mondays Mag Publications I Editor-In-Chief  Ntombizodwa Dlamini

Every artist evolves, but some do so with a fearless shift—shedding doubt and stepping fully into their creative power. For this artist, her latest single In My Way marks that transformation. With rhythmic African influences, polished production, and a deeper commitment to storytelling, she’s crafting music that is more layered, more honest, and undeniably more her.

"Since my last release, I’ve let go of the fears and insecurities and allowed myself to simply feel and create," she explains. "The new sound still blends pop and R&B, but there’s a boldness now. It’s more me."

Like many great songs, In My Way was born from a moment of realization—the understanding that holding space for someone else sometimes comes at the cost of self. "It’s about reclaiming that space," she says. "The story isn’t just about love, it’s about boundaries, growth, and recognizing when something is no longer aligned." With the help of producer Ryan Toby, the song took shape through reflection and conversation.

They discussed her past experiences, her sonic vision, and the emotions she wanted to convey—ultimately crafting a track that feels raw yet empowering "It usually starts with a feeling before a lyric," she shares. "For this track, I wanted the hook to sound almost like a chant. From there, it was about building the verses with intention, letting the production breathe, and making sure every word felt true."

What makes In My Way special isn’t just its polished sound or confident delivery—it’s the connection it creates with listeners. "I hope they feel seen," she says. "Whether it’s about a relationship, a job, or even a version of themselves they’ve outgrown, this song is for anyone choosing themselves. I want listeners to feel empowered and reminded that protecting your peace is not selfish, it’s necessary."

Her growth as an artist has been shaped by icons who balance softness with strength—Beyoncé, Tems, Aaliyah, and Sade. "There’s a power in their softness that I admire, a quiet confidence that they each possess," she explains. "They remind me that music is about energy, not just melody." This idea of emotional energy plays heavily into her performances, visuals, and overall branding. "I see my brand as an extension of how I live—intentional, warm, bold, and a little mysterious," she says. "I love using visuals, fashion, and moments from real life to let people in while always leaving space for imagination."

With In My Way setting the tone for her next creative chapter, the artist promises more exciting singles ahead—including one that’s light, flirtatious, and showcases her playful side. "We’re also working on visuals that go beyond the expected—I’m being creative and fun all around." Her path forward is focused on redefining African pop for a global audience.

"I think I’m part of the wave that’s reshaping what African pop can sound like globally," she says. "I bring softness with strength, elegance with edge. I’m not chasing a sound; I’m constantly setting out to cultivate a feeling."

If In My Way is any indication, she’s not just creating music—she’s building a world where emotion, confidence, and rhythm collide. And for those who’ve ever had to reclaim their space, her words and melodies will feel like a homecoming.
